my brz is making this goofy rattling noise at 4k RPM... cooked?

No cap guys every time I hit high rpm there is this weird rattling sound coming from the engine bay. It feels lowkey slower too. Is my engine about to blow up? 💀

exhaust rattle for sure, mine did the exact same thing

check your exhaust heat shields. the fa20/fa24 engines are known to rattle the heat shields loose right around 4000 rpm. it sounds metallic and scary but is actually harmless.

could be valvetrain noise or di (direct injection) seals failing. do a compression test and check the spark plugs before jumping to conclusions.

if it feels slower, check for a vacuum leak or check your oil for metal shavings. if it's rod knock, the engine is indeed imo abt to exit the chat. 💸💯
